Approach to design
SDC is undertaking engagement at this point in the design process as key elements such as the general layout and maximum size of buildings are far enough advanced to allow the community to provide feedback on plans.
Design has been guided by core principles within national planning policy, including:
- Infrastructure designed for people
- Delivering development with a coherent sense of place
- Identifying opportunities to deliver economic, environmental and social value
- Seeking opportunities for decarbonisation and building climate resilience
Illustrative masterplan
Power would be provided to the data centre campus through one of two scenarios:
Either an on-site energy centre followed by a future grid connection, or a direct connection to the existing 400kV overhead lines. Plans below show technology solutions currently being considered for the Project.
